The rejection by the mainstream Muslim world centers on the doctrine of Khatam un-Nabiyyin (Seal of the Prophets). This is a core Islamic tenet, derived from the Quran (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:40) and numerous Hadith, affirming that Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) is the absolutely final Prophet and Messenger sent by Allah, and that the chain of prophethood has been conclusively sealed forever.

Mainstream Islamic scholars view any claim to prophethood after Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.), regardless of the nature or type of that prophethood (whether law-bearing or non-law-bearing), as a direct contradiction of this fundamental article of faith. Because Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani eventually asserted a form of prophetic status, the vast majority of Muslim denominations and scholars deemed this a deviation from Islam's core belief, leading to the rejection of his movement.
