Having already won Group A but with a perfect record so far, Bayern Munich would like to maintain that when facing a tricky opponent in Copenhagen on Wednesday in Champions League play. With a chance to mix in youth like Mathys Tel, Bayern have things to play for even if the game may seem meaningless in the table. Tel has already scored six goals and assisted three in all competitions this season and along with other fringe players, he has an opportunity to show that he deserves more playing time.
Competitive matches against a team with something to lose like Copenhagen can go a long way for development as the rest of the group is wide open at this stage.

Bayern Munich gave goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer a one-year contract extension Tuesday after his successful return from a broken leg.
The new contract is a sign of faith in the 37-year-old Neuer, who returned to action Oct. 28 for Bayern following more than 10 months out after he broke his leg while skiing. The announcement came a day before Bayern plays Copenhagen in the Champions League.
Neuer’s contract had been due to expire at the end of the season. The one-year extension ensures he will still be a Bayern player when Germany hosts the European Championship next year and takes him through to the end of the 2024-25 season, when the Champions League final will be played at Bayern’s home stadium.
Neuer has played 494 times for Bayern since he joined the club in 2011. Bayern also announced a one-year extension through to 2025 for his longtime backup Sven Ulreich.
Bayern has won five out of six games since Neuer returned, scoring 20 goals and conceding just five. The one blemish on that record was a shock 2-1 German Cup loss to third-tier Saarbruecken on Nov. 1. Coach Thomas Tuchel paid tribute to Neuer on Tuesday, calling his return “crucial” to the team’s improvement.
Bayern goes into Wednesday’s game against Copenhagen already qualified for the Champions League knockout stages and on run of 17 consecutive wins in group-stage games. Bayern has gone a record 38 games unbeaten in the group stage since a loss to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
After defender Matthijs de Ligt returned to individual training Monday following a knee injury, Tuchel indicated he doesn’t expect the Dutch center-back to play for Bayern again this year. The team’s last game before the winter break in Germany is against Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on Dec. 20.
Already clinching first place in the group and having beaten Copenhagen before, the expectation is clear that Bayern should win the match but that could be easier said than done as Copenhagen can make the group interesting if they can pick up a point here.
Second in Group A, Copenhagen can't be eliminated from knockout contention during this match but a point would certainly make it easier for them to advance to the last 16 of the Champions League. Defense has been an issue for the Danish side so how they hold off Bayern's attack will determine a lot.
Bayern Munich are destined to finish atop Group A of the Champions League with two matchdays in the group stage to go, including the home tie against Copenhagen on Wednesday.
Having recently completed the double against Galatasaray, the German giants already secured their pass to the knockouts on account of their perfect record in the group.
Copenhagan picked up a crucial 4-3 victory against Manchester United in their previous group encounter, but it can still go either way in the three-way race for second place.
Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel can be expected to ring in some changes from the weekend's league win over Koln, while having to deal with a few injury concerns as well.
Jamal Musiala is ruled out with a hamstring tear, joining the likes of Tarek Buchmann and Gabriel Marusic in the treatment room. It may be too early for Matthijs de Ligt, too, although he is getting closer to recovering from a knee injury.
Birger Meling, David Khocholava, William Clem and Noah Sahsah are expected to be ruled out through their respective injuries, while Roony Bardghji can see himself included in manager Jacob Neestrup's plan for the trip to Munich.
